My Dosha is Pitta (Indian Medicinal System):

Ayurvedic principles hold that Pittas have intelligent, focused minds and are motivated to get things done. Pittas tend to be proud, discriminating and judgmental, and have a developed sense of responsibility, which makes them great leaders or organizers. They may also be argumentative, witty and quick learners. When they spend money, they often spend moderately and mostly on luxuries.

Pittas are honest, kind, fair, tactful and generous. They can be excellent judges, true friends and great speakers. They are often respected in society because of their great integrity and honesty, and they always speak out for justice and truth. One of the most damaging things for a Pitta to do is to lose her inner sense of morality. Without it, she can become intolerant and bigoted. It’s important for Pittas to cultivate their sense of balance and stay true to their moral instincts.

Taking care of your mind and body:

According to Ayurveda, Pittas tend to have well-developed builds and muscular limbs. They often have heart-shaped faces and pointed chins. Their appetites tend towards sweet, cool things and they may get irritable when they have to skip a meal. Pittas’ voices are often loud and their words carefully chosen. They sleep soundly and well, but generally do not require much sleep to be alert during the day. They are prone to heartburn, skin inflammations and rashes. taking care of your mind and body.

Ayurveda recommends that Pittas make moderation a way of life. While cigarettes and alcohol hurt every kind of body, Pittas in particular may be harmed by these unhealthy substances. Overheating and overexertion also take their toll on Pittas’ health. Unhappy Pittas become antagonistic, jealous, bitter and intolerant. Pittas are advised to not take things too seriously so as to keep despair or angry explosions at bay.

Pittas can stay cool in the summer by swimming, eating ice cream or just drinking lots of cool water. Eating sweet, bitter (green veggies, eggplant) or astringent (beans, lentils) foods will help Pittas stay balanced.
